Smokey Joe’s Cafe felt like my breakout moment as a scenic artist. It was the first set that I painted almost completely solo. Originally, the album covers on the flats were going to be printed out and glued to the panels, but I offered to paint each one by hand instead. I free-handed each album cover. Each album took me 1-3 hours to complete, depending on the complexity. Out of all the sets I have painted, this is one of the sets I cherish the most.
